“We’re excited for the opportunity to expand our business to Cordova Park and think this store brings a unique shopping experience to the community. For years our customers have asked us to open a shop in this area. When this space became available, we knew this could be a great location for us to serve a different area of Pensacola.” said April Cook.

Coastal Paddle Company got its start in 2010 in a humble 300-square-foot space near the foot of the Pensacola Bay Bridge. What began primarily as a stand-up paddle shop offering sales, lessons and rentals, quickly evolved into a specialty outdoor outfitter offering apparel, shoes and accessories, in addition to serving as the area’s only authorized YOLO paddleboard dealer.

Coastal Paddle Company has since experienced three expansions and two moves to larger retail spaces in the last seven years. With each expansion, they have been able to offer more brands and merchandise.

“As a small business we are here to serve. We really listen to our customers and find out what they are looking for. We have built our business on our local community from the beginning, striving to meet the needs of our customers and bring new and exciting offerings to the marketplace,” said Kevin Cook.

The Cook’s flagship store, which contains both Coastal Paddle Company and The South Outfitters, is located in Gulf Breeze at 848 Gulf Breeze Parkway in the Publix Shopping Center.

“Many people know that we are the exclusive YOLO Board retailer in the Pensacola Bay Area, but with the addition of The South Outfitters in this location we offer so much more than paddle gear and equipment,” said Kevin Cook.

The Gulf Breeze store offers an extensive selection of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, shoes and other outdoor equipment.

In November of 2015, Coastal Paddle Company launched its sister store – The South Outfitters – at 422 South Palafox Street in the heart of downtown Pensacola. The retail shop specifically focuses on apparel and gifts, and also features a limited selection of outdoor gear.

“We’ve had such a great response at our Downtown location that we recently expanded into the space next door, doubling our current size,” said April Cook. The new, expanded space opened October 20, 2017, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Coastal Paddle Company and The South Outfitters bring a blend of classic Southern roots to men’s and women’s fashion. “We love getting to know each of our customers, so that we can best outfit them for whatever their day may bring, whether it be a day on the water or a night out on the town,” said April Cook.

The new Bayou Boulevard location expands on the success of the Downtown store, focusing on clothing and apparel from southern and outdoor lifestyle brands for men, women and children. The store features brands such as Patagonia, Southern Tide, The North Face, Arcteryx, Fish Hippie, Kuhl, Osprey, True Grit, Chaco and Olukai.

“When we began this journey seven years ago, we never dreamed we’d be where we are today. We’re grateful for each and every customer and we’re blessed to have found a retail niche that resonates with Pensacola residents and visitors alike,” said Kevin Cook.
